What kind of document is a business proposal?
A proposal is a document in which you write down a plan on how to solve the other person's problem and the price you will pay for it. There are some positions that require a thick presentation, but for most first proposals, a single A4 page will suffice and will be read that way.
Order is important if you want to put everything on one page. It starts with writing down the problem the other person is experiencing (background), followed by how to solve it (content of proposal), what will change if solved (expected effect), and by when and for how much (schedule and amount). It's common for proposals to start with an introduction to our company, but that's right at the end.
When it comes to formally presenting the amount, estimateCreate a separate one, and once the progress is confirmed, service contractFix the condition. If you exchange data with each other during the proposal process, confidentiality agreementMake a deal first.
Formatting

Things you can easily miss when writing
01Write the background in the other person’s words. It works best if you just copy the sentences you heard in the meeting.
02Write down your suggestions as deliverables. “We will create something” is considered rather than “We will improve it.”
03Enter a number for the expected effect. If there is evidence, state it. If it is an estimate, write it as an estimate.
04In your schedule, attach deliverables to each step. There is no way to check a schedule that only lists the period.
05Please write down the expiration date. It prevents you from being asked to proceed with the old amount several months later.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are proposals and estimates divided?
A proposal is a plan for what, why and how to do something. estimateis a document that lists the price by item. It is easier to negotiate if only the total amount and rough composition are written in the proposal, and the detailed unit price is submitted to the quotation.
Isn’t one sheet not enough?
The first offer is usually sufficient. It saves both parties time to create detailed information after the other person has shown interest. If submission specifications are set, such as in a formal bid, follow the request, but it is advisable to attach this document as a summary in front.
What do you write in the background of your proposal?
Rather than talking about our company, we write about the problems the other person is experiencing. You can just write down what you heard at the meeting or what you saw in published materials. The more specific this is, the more persuasive the proposition becomes.
I feel uncomfortable writing down the amount. Can I leave it blank?
You can leave it blank, but it's not recommended. If you don't have the money, your review won't proceed to the next step. If the scope is not set, write “basic composition criteria” and state the conditions.
Is what I write saved on the server?
It is not saved. The information you enter is processed only within the browser, and PDF and Word files are also created on the user's device.
This is general information for guidance purposes only. Bids or public proposals are subject to separate submission specifications.
