What matters

An image viewer should make browsing fast

Opening one image beautifully matters less than moving through an entire folder without delay. That is what ImgView is built for.

Instant and lightweight

Uses Windows Imaging Component (WIC) for fast display. Even the installer is only about 3 MB.

🎞️

Browse a folder like a playlist

Open one image and ImgView adds the entire folder to the browsing list, then preloads the previous and next images for instant navigation.

⌨️

Keyboard-first controls

Navigate, zoom, rotate, enter full screen, delete and copy with single-key shortcuts—no need to reach for the mouse.

🗜️

View archives without extracting

Browse images inside ZIP, CBZ, 7z, CB7, RAR and CBR files without extracting them. Ideal for comics and scanned documents.

⬇ Download ImgView (.exe)

ImgView requires the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime, which is already installed on many PCs. If it is missing, the first launch will guide you. You can also install “Desktop Runtime” from the Microsoft download page in about a minute.
Because the app is not yet code-signed, Windows SmartScreen may appear on first launch. Select More info → Run anyway. The installer is safe.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is ImgView really free? Does it show ads?

Yes. ImgView is completely free, with no ads, tracking or bundled software. The installer does not add any unrelated programs.

How is it different from Honeyview or Bandiview?

ImgView keeps the lightweight feel, instant launch and archive browsing that made Honeyview popular while continuing to receive updates. Its modern .NET interface focuses on everyday tools such as EXIF orientation correction, batch conversion, a thumbnail strip, webtoon view and printing. Advanced professional features such as HDR and color management are still on the roadmap.

I see a “.NET was not found” message after installation.

ImgView requires the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime. Follow the link in the prompt or install “.NET Desktop Runtime 8.x (x64)” from the official Microsoft page, then launch ImgView again.

Can it open modern formats such as WebP, HEIC and AVIF?

Yes. Install the free WebP, HEIF or AVIF codec extensions from Microsoft Store and ImgView will open those formats without additional setup. JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP and TIFF work without extensions.

Can I view an archive without extracting it?

Yes. Browse images inside ZIP, CBZ, 7z, CB7, RAR and CBR files in order without extracting them. It is especially convenient for comics and scanned documents.

Does it require administrator access, and is it safe?

ImgView installs only for your current Windows account and does not require administrator access. It runs locally and does not collect personal information. Remove it cleanly from Control Panel or “Uninstall ImgView” in the Start menu.

Why is the context-menu item under “Show more options”?

Windows 11 places classic context-menu entries under “Show more options” (Shift+F10). Direct placement in the new top-level menu is planned for a future update. ImgView in the Send to menu is immediately available on every supported Windows version.

Lightweight, fast and free.

Double-click and your first image is open. Browse folders and archives without interruption.
