What kind of document is a receipt?

A receipt is a document that confirms that the person receiving the money “received this amount.” Bank transfers are recorded, but cash transactions are not, which can lead to fights later over whether you received it or not. One receipt eliminates that fight.

In practice, it is used when exchanging or receiving a down payment or interim payment, when paying for goods between individuals, and in small transactions where a tax invoice is not issued. If you keep a record of what the money was for, you won't later say, "It wasn't that money."

It must be separated from tax treatment. This document confirms the fact that money has been exchanged, and in order to deduct input tax from value-added tax or process expenses, separate proof prescribed by law, such as a tax invoice, cash receipt, or credit card sales slip, is required.

Formatting

The text is one A4 page. The payer and the amount received are placed at the top, the details table and remarks are placed below it, and the recipient information and signature are placed at the end. If you download it in Word, a page of writing instructions will be attached at the end.

Things you can easily miss when writing

  1. 01Be sure to write down what the money is for. A receipt that only lists the amount does not allow you to know later which transaction it belongs to.
  2. 02If you received it including VAT, please write that fact in the remarks. It serves as a basis for matching the tax invoice amount.
  3. 03If you receive a partial receipt, write down the total amount, amount received, and balance.
  4. 04If you need full transaction details transaction statement, if you need order basis order formTake it with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are expenses covered with this receipt?

In general, it's difficult. To receive a VAT input tax deduction, you need legal proof such as a tax invoice, cash receipt, or credit card sales slip. This form is a document that confirms the fact that money was exchanged between parties, and does not replace legal evidence. It can be used as reference material to explain expenses in an income tax return.

Why do you write the amount in Korean?

If you just write down the number, you can rewrite it by adding a leading digit or adding 0. Forgery becomes difficult if you write it in two words, such as "1.5 million won (₩1,500,000)." The practice of adding “jeong” at the end of the Korean amount is also to prevent additional letters from being added after the amount.

How do I write it down when I only received a down payment?

In the details field, write the description, such as “Product Price (Deposit),” and write the total amount and remaining amount in the remarks. If you write something like "Out of the total KRW 5,000,000, a down payment of KRW 1,500,000 will be received, and the balance of KRW 3,500,000 will be paid after delivery is completed," the settlement will become clearer.

If I don't have a stamp, can I just sign?

It works. Any indication that the recipient has confirmed it, whether it is a signature or a seal, is sufficient. If you are a business owner, it is better to write down your name and business registration number to gain trust.

Can I use this form to lend or receive money?

The fact that it was lent IOUIt is correct to leave it as . However, if you paid in cash, receiving this receipt separately from the IOU serves as evidence that money was actually exchanged. If you sent it by bank transfer, you can replace it with the transfer details.

How many copies should I make?

It is common for the giver to keep the original and the recipient to have a copy. If you save it as a PDF and email it to both parties, you will have a record without having to print two pages.

Is what I write saved on the server?

It is not saved. The information you enter and the uploaded stamp photo are processed only within the browser, and PDF and Word files are also created on the user's device.

This is general information for guidance purposes only, and the proof required for tax processing varies depending on the type of transaction. If there is an issue with expense treatment or tax deductions, check with a tax professional.
