What do you see when you open the website in the alley?
This is the route to the first store I go to. When you search and open the website, a large photo and brand text fill the screen. really necessary addressis nowhere on the screen.
At this point, the customer scrolls down a few times, then usually hits back and searches for the store name again in the Maps app. The website was not used at that moment.
There are only three things you want to do
What a customer wants to do after entering the store's website is usually set.
- Address confirmation — Copy and paste into the Maps app.
- Open map — Start finding directions right away.
- make a call — Ask if there are any seats available and if they are open now.
Menu photos and interiors have often already been seen on social media. What to look for on the website What you need to get thereno see.
I opened and counted 21 places.
Among the cafe and restaurant homepages collected through web searches, we displayed 21 open sites (17 cafes and 4 restaurants) with Playwright and counted what was visible in the area visible without scrolling. If there was a “Directions” link on the website, I opened that page again.
| item | Among 21 places |
|---|---|
| Where the address is on the first screen | 0 places |
| Where the map appears on the first screen | 0 places |
| Location of map (home or directions) | 11 places, all require lowering the screen to appear |
| The address is nowhere on both pages. | 5 places (3 places without maps) |
| Place where business hours are written / Place on the first screen | 6 places / 1 place |
| A place with a push-to-call phone | 3 places |
| A place where numbers are written only in letters | 15 places |
sample Only 21 placesTherefore, I only wrote the number of places without using a ratio. This is the value obtained by subtracting 1 connection failure, 32 locations where the screen did not open, and 6 affiliated store recruitment headquarters from the 60 locations collected through web searches. Measured on August 31, 2026.
Collect four things at the top of the first screen
The way to fix it is not to re-design it. changing orderno see. Just place the four things right below the large photo, where you can see them before scrolling.
| item | why you need it |
|---|---|
| address | You can copy it by pressing and holding it as text, not as an image. |
| Business hours | It prevents things from coming and going. Holidays are also written on the same line. |
| map | Leave it visible even if you don't take it down. It would be better to include a directions link. |
| phone call | tel: You have to click on the link to connect directly by clicking on it on your phone. |
Of the 21 places we saw, the one that had all four of these was 2 placesIt was.
Three things to try today
You don't have to ask anyone else. If you open the store's website on your mobile phone and do the three things below, you'll know right away.
- Press and hold the address to copy it. If it is inside an image, it will not be copied.
- Try dialing the phone number. If the call screen does not appear
tel:It's not a link. - See if you can see the business hours without scrolling. If you can't see it, just move it up.
If you can afford it, add structured data as well. Search and AI read the same information. Among the 21 stores we looked at, none recorded store information as structured data. However, this is the order after solving the problem people are looking for first.
The numbers in this article measure what's on the screen, not how it affects search rankings or visits. The phone screen in the video is a reproduction and not from a specific store.
